Raspberry Chocolate Creme!

I never would have thought to put these colors together… I brought home these two pashminas to try out from our new summer collection, and I loved them both so much that I couldn’t decide which one to wear!  My husband said, “Why not both?”  I’m glad I listened to him!

(The two pashminas will be called “summer purple” and “Andrea’s Brown” – I paired it with the creme ruffled waves sash and a fabric pin!)

After the tichel was decided the outfit came easily:

Warm Forest Green

I have this gorgeous green sari scarf that has a touch of purple in it – so that lets me wear green and purple together, right?   Right 🙂

andrea grinberg wrapunzel

And the tichel went from lovely to even lovelier with these perfect pearls, attached with a regal clasp, of course!  (Don’t what I’m talking about?  Check out this video now!)  I am loving how a strand of pearls can balance the rustic-ness of the sari scarf!  I find myself wearing them almost constantly!

It’s funny that I NEVER would have worn these colors together before starting to cover my hair!  So now I’m curious – what color combinations has tichel tying allowed you to try?  Which ones were the most surprising for you?

So Much to be Thankful For!

Hi Everyone!  So for those of you that have been following the whole Wrapunzel/Wrapunzel The Store saga (“Wrapunzelution” is now a word!!!!), you will know how incredibly blessed both Rivka Malka and I are to be on this whirlwind adventure!  There is a revolution brewing, and you are the ones that are starting it!  Incredible!  Anyway, here are some tichels and outfits I’ve been putting together lately that have made me feel both modest and regal!

Rockin the Rustic Romance… this scarf is still my favourite!  It just hugs the head so nicely!  And seriously I can’t get enough of these Signature Max pins… they grab so much scarf and lay so flat!  Can we all hope together that one day we can get them with gold backing?

A slightly more formal outfit that flows – and the colours are very sun/hot weather friendly!  My husband loved the lace (he likes when I wear white!) and yes, this is another necklace attached by our friend’s new invention, the Regal Clasp!  There will be a video about it soon!  (And yes, our kitty photobombed because she loved hiding under this skirt!)

This rustic, layered yet simple tichel was perfect for a sunny day running outdoor errands!  There weren’t any tails hanging down which equaled much more functionality than my usual braids and twists!  Just make sure you put sunscreen on your neck or stay in the shade!  (For those that are wondering, it’s the dark red 2in1 and brown NYB!)

Another functional outfit that wore beautifully!  Hello cowboy boots!

And last but not least… one of the most beautiful tichels I’ve ever worn, with lovely colours and intricacy.  The outfit was such a joy to move in; modest and feminine.  This one will definitely be repeated!  (Tichel is Rivka Malka’s Teal pashmina, sash from the Truffleberry kit, and Wrapunzel Buckle!)

Sophisticated Wedding Wear!

Anyone looking for a more professional/sophisticated way to dress modestly and wear a tichel?  Look no further:

The above photo really doesn’t show how awesome this dress is; I rarely wear black but this one manages to be comfortably modest yet feminine and flattering.  I wore a pair of dark low heels with it.

And [drumroll] here is a closeup of the tichel!  I am really loving loving LOVING the double twist braid lately!  And I have a pretty wacky idea of an extreme variation on it which I’m gonna try tomorrow… stay tuned!!  But about this wrap: it’s incredible how similar colour families can make an intricate wrap much more subdued.  Of course, if the occasion were more business-y the headband necklace wouldn’t have been included… but this was for a wedding!

Rivka Malka’s Funktastic Outfit!

Rivka Malka came over today to plan for our upcoming workshops/shows and I could not get over how awesome her outfit was!  Especially on this rainy day!  “What shows?” you may be asking;  well, we have 7 (maybe even 8!) planned between now and June 8th… craziness!  My next post will be giving those dates and places to you because you’ve asked, so sit tight, they’re acomin’!  ANYWAY, here’s what RM had to say about what she was wearing today:

“A cropped jean jacket is a perfect coverup for a shell that you might otherwise not feel comfortable wearing on its own!  I just got this one and I know it’s going to be a joy to wear this summer!  It really brings everything together!  And whomever said you can’t wear patterned tichels with patterned skirts?!  Just make sure that the color families are complimentary!”

And here is what she had to say about her fantastic tichel:  “I really think the dandelion joy is the most underrated tichel.  I wear mine constantly [Andrea’s note: she really does!] and it somehow manages to do what both a flowered and geometric scarf can do, without really falling into either category!  It has so many colors that you can choose to bring out – I chose the pink today – and its movement and lightness is perfect for the summer.  I can’t get enough!”

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how awesome this woman is?!  Seriously… in awe!  Enjoy, y’all!!

Navy and Mint!!

Lately it hasn’t been very often that you’ll see me wearing one scarf… I’d forgotten how beautiful it can be!!  Yes, layers are incredible, but sometimes you just want one scarf to shine… and this Navy Shimmery certainly did that beautifully.  I added a necklace and that was it!  The wrap I did was a waterfall twist (with an extra little twist) and it stayed put all night long with no adjustment needed!  Since I was wearing a black shaper underneath, no other scarves were needed except the one!

The outfit I wore was another lucky Goodwill find!  I almost didn’t buy it because I thought it would be hard to match, but then remember I had a mint shell and a navy skirt that would work perfectly with it!  This was one of those fancy but super comfortable outfits that I know I’ll wear again!  I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you are all having an inspiring, healthy, cathartic, and grateful weekend!  Sending you much love and light!

Today today!

Hi everyone!!!!  Here’s what I’m wearing today.  Thanks for all the enthusiastic responses to yesterday’s post – I will definitely show you more outfit combinations now!  Hope you enjoy today’s tichel as well.  It has a lot of texture and patterns (even for me, lol) but the darker, subdued colours make it work!

And if anyone is wondering about the weird earring placement accident, I invite you to take a guess about why I have two holes in one ear and one in the other!  (Hint: has to do with playing the cello!)

Some Outfit Inspiration!

Here are 4 outfits that I wore recently that were perfectly enhanced by tichels!

I’m always asked how to match up patterned shirts with tichels.  “Is it possible to wear a patterened shirt with a patterned head scarf?”  The answer is yes!!  Just look for similar colours and flow, and you’ll look even more put together!

My favourite blue dress with a flowing blue scarf (a gift from Rivka Malka – and yes it will be a part of the store soon!), with pearls and a brown Israeli tichel for contrast!  Loved this one!

This next outfit was so much fun!  I was worried about putting all this texture together but the separate elements enhanced each other!  This photo was taken after a long day and in bad light, but you can only imagine what it looked like before!  The colours are so happy!

And last but not least, a photo from a recent concert… elegant and understated.

I hope this post shows you how tichels can help you do MORE with what you already have!  Let me know what you think and please keep sending in your requests!  It really helps me out!  Kol tuv ❤

Beautiful Celebration

At the beginning of this week, we celebrated the tremendous gift of being able to free ourselves from everything that binds us, and plant the seeds for a beautiful 49 days of growth and nurturing of the soul.  For our second year, my husband and I hosted Pesach seder, and though it was our first one without family, we felt as though everyone we love was with us.  13 people from every kind of different background, a beautiful table, probing questions, going on a wild journey that lasted until the early morning hours.  A miracle.

My husband bought me a gorgeous lace top (it’s traditional for husbands to buy their wives gifts before the holiday) which I wore with a silk skirt and matching tichel.  I loved the outfit so much that I insisted on running outside before candle lighting to take pictures for you!

My tichel was my lovely teal 2in1 with a teal Shimmery, paired with a piece of lace and enhanced with a pearl headband!  Earrings are also a gift from my husband.  You can’t really see in the photo, but the twist on the side is both scarves together:

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!  Sending you lots of love!!

Holy Lace

Hello beautiful Wrapunzel ladies!  I hope you’re all doing well and those of you that are preparing for Pesach are managing to keep your sanity intact and your kavannah strong!  Here is what I wore for Shabbat!  I am totally loving this white lace scarf (my husband helped pick it out), and yes, for those of you wondering, we are working on getting it for the store!  The turquoise 2 in 1 is now one of my complete favourites – I actually decided to iron it for a concert last week and since then it’s been looking fancier than when it had the runches!

As you can see above, I wore my white cotton dress from Yom Kippur – I had no idea it would match the lace tichel so well!  My husband wears all white on Shabbat, so my outfit was picked out with love to match him, and also incorporating teal, my favourite colour.  It was a beautiful day here in Baltimore, and this outfit was perfect for our long Shabbat walk 🙂

All my love, Andrea

A Happy ‘Mismatched’ Accident!

My outfit today is a bit of an enigma; I don’t remember how it actually materialized.  I started off with my brown stretch pashmina tichel, a wrap skirt and a mint shirt, but between taking photos, getting cold (hence the sweater and scarf around my neck), and adding an extra sash scarf on my head, I ended up feeling VERY mismatched.  And do you know what’s even more mysterious?  I have barely left my house today (yet), and have already received glowing compliments from the many people that have come over!  I was like, “really”?!  But the women commenting are very stylish, so I decided to believe them!  So I’m going to go out like this!  I guess it does all look pretty funky!

Here’s my tichel:
wrapunzel tichel andrea grinberg

And here is the awesome mismatched yet somehow working outfit!  My skirt is from Israel when I went there for the first time!  I remember being so hesitant to buy it because it ‘wasn’t my style’… and now it’s one of the most worn skirts in my wardrobe!

It’s a BEAUTIFUL Day!

Today is such a gift!  We hosted a vibrant, bustling in-person Wrapunzel event this morning at Rivka Malka’s house – it was so much fun bonding with all these beautiful women and teaching them how to wrap!  We also have a very rare, pre Pesach sale at the Wrapunzel Store happening only today (yes, right now!)… it is our first time doing something like this so we were uper duper excited!  It has been so much fun watching so many creative orders come in and maintaining the site as the day goes on!  I also had a very intense chamber music coaching this morning as well as a rehearsal later… and tonight is our dress rehearsal for a big concert next week!  Whew!  All in all, this has been a wonderful day so far!  And I had to make sure when I got ready early in the morning that I wore something that could take me through the whole day!  Here it is!

Wrapunzel Andrea Grinberg Pashmina Stripe Scarves Outift Teal Brown

My tichel is a lovely warm combination of turquoise, white and brown… yum!

My outfit had to be nice enough to do a tichel show, comfortable enough to clean the house for pesach, practical enough to walk through some muddy bits to get to rehearsal, with a wide enough skirt to play the cello!  I’m so happy with the results!

WHEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

And of course, the clothes are meaningless unless they reveal your inner essence, which I really feel like these clothes do today.  I am so thankful today to know each and every one of you!  Wishing you a gorgeous, productive, and meaningful week!

Wedding Wear! Mazal Tov!!

I went to a beautiful wedding yesterday; the daughter of an incredible family we are close with got married!  It truly was an occasion.  Of course I made sure to take some photos of outfit and tichel inspiration!  First I want to show you this dress that I got from eshakti.com… a lady on the Wrapunzel facebook page recommended it and I was very impressed!  (Nope, I’m not getting anything from them for making this post – just want to share the awesomeness!)  A lot of their dresses can be customized to all kinds of modesty standards, and they really value their individual customers – a truly special website!  I’m going to share this post with them to encourage more dresses that a customizable for different tzniut (modesty) standards, so everyone please leave a comment on this post telling them that this would be a good idea!!

Here is the dress!  (With the % discount they had featured and $25 first timers discount it came out to a whooping $30 with all the customization!)

And here is the inspirational Rivka Malka!  We are loving this dress she has… she got it in Israel.  We really want to just make it in every single colour… maybe in the future this dream will come true!  Both of our outfits were just made to move in, and if any of you have ever been to an orthodox Jewish wedding you’ll know that crazy dancing is essential!  We always make sure that our outfits and tichels can withstand lots of this!

And of course, some close ups of our tichels!  I’m wearing two “THE Shimmery” scarves – the gold one that you’ll all recognize from my collection that I’ve had for years, and a new navy one – they all WILL be available on the new store site!!  You can imagine how ecstatic I was when we found them for you!  And Rivka Malka is rocking the leopard print with a sparkly headband and sash!  Awesome!

What do you wear to weddings?  We want to hear from you!   And please also leave a comment here telling eshakti.com that we would love more modest dresses from them!

Love, Andrea

Wrapunzel in the Kitchen!

My husband snapped this photo as I did dishes at the end of a busy, magical day.  I was very happy with this outfit choice!  (Earlier in the day I was wearing a shorter light blue skirt, but switched to the grey later for cello playing!)
andrea grinberg wrapunzel

The tichel I wore was a happy experiment!  I am really enjoying using pins to create interesting drapes and poufs with the ends of scarves.  This one was no exception!

Hope you are all doing well!  Are there any new looks or ties that you’ve been experimenting with?
