Turbo Turbanorama!

Rachel is bbbaaaacccckkkk with not one, but TWO turban tutorials!  She’s a true turbanista!

Seriously, how does she do it?  Even though this style isn’t for everyone, they’re definitely simple enough for everyone to try at least once!  And with the “Favorite Tshirt Tichel”… just… wooooot!!  Gotta go try these now!

Playin’ Ketchup (Catch-up!)

Hi Ladies!!

I’ve been all over the place lately, and my tichels have been with me!  Here are some scarves/outfits that I’ve been loving:

Shabbat preparation day in Far Rockaway:

Above, I’m wearing my Fantasy Garden tichel with a matching outfit!

Shabbat before/after in Far Rockaway:

I’m wearing a Sari that Rachel E. picked out especially for me, (her words, “if I were to see this sari scarf, I would think, ‘Andrea’!”), a cream shimmery, and empress circlet.  I basically did the same wrap for the evening as I did for the day, except with tails up, and in the last photo, my son is grabbing my foot!

Thanksgiving:

My husband and I went to our first Thanksgiving dinner!  (He’s Israeli and I’m Canadian.)  I loved wearing these fall colors for the occasion.  A teal “favorite tshirt” tichel, an orange NYB, and gold roses headband.  My skirt is a recent find; it’s super old and I just unearthed it during a recent family visit!  (And it was perfect for the meal because I could expand the waist 😛 )

Rainy Day (Today):

I’m loving these embracing textures on a rainy day… and yes, that is a ‘COMFORT’ on my head that you’re seeing!  I found more!  Look for them on the store site soon!  (And yes we are getting more skirts too!)

I love how wearing happy, enlightening colors just lifts my mood.  Hope you are all able to do the same for yourselves!

Hope you enjoyed these!  Sending so much love to you all!

xx Andrea

Wrapunzel’s “Most Popular”: Everything you Ever Wanted To Know!

We often get emails with questions like, “What is the difference between a Shimmery and a Shiny-Licious?”  “What does the Lakeshore Bliss really feel like?” “What’s so special about your Israeli Tichels?”  And “What exactly is at 2 in 1 and how does it work?”

Enter tutorial maker extraordinaire Rachel to save the day!  Here she shows you all the tichels that have stood the test of time and are in the “Most Popular” category on wrapunzel.com!  With stories about how we found them and cute tidbits you don’t want to miss!

Perfect Performance Tichel

The concert series that I co-founded had its launch recital last night!  We had a gorgeous set up for the hall: the quartet facing each other and the audience all around us, so the back of my tichel got a lot more attention than usual!  You can bet that I spent some time on it!

Our colors were teal (of course!), silver, and black!

Here’s my tichel!  I used an old applique headband (note to self – try to find more of these for y’all!), my teal shimmery and a new teal shiny-liscious that I’m hoping to get for the store!  Oh, and yeah, one of our sponsors is a makeup artist and did my makeup for the show!  Amazing!  (And shameless plug – please let me know if you want to become a sponsor.  We are a non profit aka tax deductible educational organization!)

Here is a shot of me taken before going to soundcheck!

And here are some action shots!  LOVED playing in this setting… so so grateful that we were able to put this together, yet another dream come true! Can’t wait for round 2!

And now, after all that (phew!), time to rest my hands and cuddle up with hubby & baby and watch some Star Wars 🙂

#WrapunzeledInPurple !!

IMG_8642Hi world!  Here is my first entry for the #wrapunzeledinpurple week!  I love this tichel sooooo much!  It’s the pashmina from the truffleberry kit, an ombre sparkle 2 in 1, and a sequin headband.  Felt SO ‘me’!

My outfit was simple; an old swishy sweat skirt that I got in Israel (perfect for rehearsals!), a purple top with a white shell underneath… and my highschool era fuzzy jean jacket!

Hope you’re all having as much fun being #wrapunzeledinpurple as I am!

Love, Andrea

Shabbat Shimmery Twisted Yumminess!

Here are two outfits that I wore this Shabbat and last Shabbat!  Can you tell that I’m feeling the Shimmeries and the twists lastely?

This Shabbat I was soooo excited to wear my Mulberry Shimmery with one of the new Empress Circlets… did my classic two shimmery wrap (tutorial here) and was good to go!  Happy!

A Fancy Ruffled Waves Pouf!

This morning I had a photoshoot with my friend Khadijah for her book, so I got all decked out!  I recreated my previous Shabbat outfit and wanted to share with you how I did the whole ruffled waves pouf on the side!

Here is a not high quality photo… will post photos from the photoshoot later!

And here is the tutorial!

‘Magic’ Square Scarf Flower Tutorial!

Here’s how to do an awesome flower with a square scarf!

As you can see in the photos above, this technique can be used to cover your whole head with a scarf (1st pic) or to use as a fancy sash!  The last one shows how to put a pin in the flower to make it flatter 🙂  Enjoy!  Shabbat shalom, world!

Burgundy & Brown

Maybe it happened in a dream, but I seriously remember doing a post about burgundy and brown in a past post!  Didn’t I?

Well, since I can’t find it, I’ll just have to do it again!

Wrapunzel Burgundy Brown Tichel Andrea Grinberg

My family had a crazzzzy wacko day.  It started off with my phone refusing to work so I couldn’t do my scheduled calls/meetings, then became a day that we needed to take off our regular work schedules because my husband is in search of a better violin (if anyone has gone through this process you can imagine how much more time consuming it is; we were prepared for this, but not prepared for how much more time consuming it is when you’re no longer a student and have a baby), then lo and behold my husband’s phone decided to also go loco while in the suburbs of DC and we got majorly lost, only to get back on track, charge phone, go to the violin dealerships (Shalomy loved it!) and then have his phone fizz out again in the middle of an unfamiliar neighborhood in Baltimore.  We just got back home at 10pm with new phones thank Gd, both of us wondering at what Hashem was trying to teach us during this odd, obstacle-y, ironic, fun, and gratitude-filled day.

Anyway, my outfit today made me happy… love this color combo!  I also loved pairing some new accessories together; the plaid headband and the new flower pin looked great with the lakeshore bliss and the burgundy 2 in 1!  I had a super cozy sweater that I wore most of the day when it was cold, but my husband snapped these photos when the sun was out 🙂

Here are some photos of my tichel in a violin shop!  (You can’t see here, but Shalomy is crawling at my feet 😛 )

Hope you all had a great day!

Some Fun Fall Outfits!

Remember back in the day when I used to post my wrap/outfit more often?  I need to start doing that again!  Here are some outfits that I’ve worn over the last week!  My camera has been in for repair, so apologies for the sub standard photos!  All of these outfits have hints of black in them (yes I’m searching for a theme) 🙂

This is a jacket that I’ve had since I was 16… and I just found it at my in-law’s during our trip to Israel!  SO happy to be wearing it again!

And a pretty grey dress, white jean jacket with a tichel to match!

And here is my fave… I really enjoyed the jean jacket with the lace top! I’m off to teach some littlies in this photo. I LOVED this tichel!  It felt so ‘me’!!

Hope you enjoy!

Love, Andrea

Nu Andrea, Whatcha Doing?

Hi Everyone!  Andrea here!

Chamber Encounters

So besides doing awesome stuff here at Wrapunzel, most of you are aware that I’m also a professional cellist.  I often recieve messages from you Wrapunzel ladies asking when/where I’m going to be performing and I’m what up to in terms of music, so I’m really excited to share here something we’ve been working on for a while now that has finally come to fruition!

My husband and I are often asked, “Why would you young people, with so much to give, devote your lives to a dying art?”  And our answer is simple, “Who says it’s dying?”  We believe that music is the universal language, the vessel that connects this world to the world above.  It opens up places within us that words (and even scarves!) fail to penetrate.  What is ‘dying’ is the elitist presentation of classical music; our audiences are desperate to connect, and we, the musicians, have a responsibility to take you through an expedition that transcends the physical and penetrates the soul.  Simply hitting the right notes (no matter how impressive) and playing expressively isn’t enough anymore.  In short, it is our dream that our audiences experience the same joy and elevation that we as professional musicians feel when we play and listen.   My husband especially has a rare gift of being able to speak words that allow audience members to go on a guided journey, instead of feeling like they’re on their own in the murkiness.

Chamber Encounters

We started this concert series called Chamber Encounters.  The main musicians in it are myself, my husband, and violist, Sarah Lowenstein.  We are bringing in guest artists from all over the world to join us and are engaging with our audience in a way that breaks down the museum glass wall that so many concerts seem to have.  Music becomes alive, and performances are a once in a lifetime experience between us, the musicians, and the audience.

Anyway, I digress.  I could talk about this stuff for ages!

Chamber Encounters

We had an amazing photoshoot for our group, and our first concert is going to be on November 24th, presented by the Gordon Center here in Maryland.  We are playing INCREDIBLE music!  Two of these pieces are on my bucket list to play in this lifetime.  I have no words.  Barber Adagio for Strings.  The Borodin.

Let me know if you want to hear more about this!  (And here are some more photos!)

A Little Ruffle, a Little Lace, and ALL Shabbat Shalom!

This is the outfit that I wore for Shabbat.  It was one of the most profound, joyous Shabbats that I’ve had in a long time, thank Gd.

My tichel was using a gold creme shimmery, an old piece of lace that I love, a cream ruffled waves sash, and a new pin that we’re hoping to bring to the store soon.  All of these are sold out currently, but we are working on getting more 🙂  I loved using my ruffled waves sash like this!

On the next day I wore the same outfit and tichel, except I did not use the pin and did a subtler tie.

Wishing you all clarity, peace, and love.
