Gorgeous New Scarf Trick!

My sis-in-law Naomi (remember her as a Lady Wrap Star?) posted this super cool wrapping style she created yesterday, and I just HAD to try it!  I wanted an simple around-the-house-doing-work style for today, and this one is as easy as she makes it sound… and guess what – I’m not wearing a shaper/volumizer!  Just a scrunchy!

Here are her instructions on how to do it!
Take one long, lightweight rectangle. Tie at the nape of the neck (ends hanging at equal length. Tie a series of 4 single loose knots with the ends. Wrap up and over the bun. Takes two minutes, looks so complicated!!
Just make sure you use a really long scarf so that even after the knots you still have long enough ends to go all the way over the bun and tuck in.  For a shorter scarf maybe 3 knots would be better 🙂

Thanks Naomi for the inspiration!!  Here is a shot of her wearing it (with a longer scarf so therefore tighter knots and a shaper/volumizer underneath.)  See how tiny little “details” change the whole look?  Imagine with a sparkly scarf – it could even be formal wear!

Signature Colours!

So in case y’all haven’t heard yet, a Wrapunzel Store will be opening soon!  Your demands have been heard – yay!  For now, the blog and the store are being kept separate (most of you requested this) but since Rivka Malka‘s and my life right now is revolving around setting this baby up, many of my wraps are done using our new scarves!

Tichels are generally a hit and miss … and since we will only sell what we wear ourselves, (and for a price we would pay – this one is a toughie!) searching for perfect scarves has been quite an adventure!  Recently one particular scarf arrived which made us gasp in shock and excitement because the colours were simply EPIC!  I wore it yesterday and couldn’t wait to post it!

It’s a one scarf wonder!  What do you think?

We also just sent one of these out to the lucky winner of our recent giveaway.  I can’t wait to see what she does with it!

It’s like, all of my favourite colours at once!  And this wrap was so easy to put together (did it without a mirror in much haste!)  Enjoy!

New Scarf, Easy Style

I was wearing a grey skirt and mauve shirt… what scarf could possibly match?  For some reason, I dug through my “give-away” pile of scarves, and uncovered this beauty, which matched my outfit perfectly!  I think that I had it pegged to give away because it is a little dark for my skin tone… but still!  It was almost *too* perfect in terms of matching, know what I mean?  Anyway, I tied a simple long scarf bun with it and added a small pin;  Does anyone want a tutorial on how to tie a bun with a long scarf?

Volume How-To

Ever wondered how to get that perfect bun and amount of volume at the back of your headwrap?  Here is the secret solution!  (Well, not so secret anymore.)

Actually, I gave you a grand total of 7 solutions in this video!

Here are the links to some of the places I mentioned in this video (fyi – these resources are not sponsored… just ones that I have used and/or know!)

The volumizer can be found through Judith de Paris.  And on facebook.  Judith is a lovely woman.  You can talk to her personally if you need advice on what size to get etc. – or just ask me for help!

The hijab hump bonnet can be found on ebay through this seller.  It comes from Malaysia so you need to have some patience when waiting for it, but there was a lovely handwritten note included.  I’m thinking of buying a cotton one from them as well.

My post on how to make it look like you have a huge bun using a long scarf is here.

The volumizer that can be made out of a loofah has a couple of diy tutorials on youtube.  Here is one that someone sent to me.

And this is what the hair donut I was describing looks like:

Ballerina bun!

Inspired by my dancer friend, I decided to try a high bun wrap for today:

To do this one, just make sure that you have your hair (or volumizer or whatever) high up on your head, then tie one square scarf in a basic tucked in wrap.  Then I took an israeli scarf, folded it up and wrapped it around the bun part, tucking the ends in 🙂

Thursday’s Volumous Braid

Inspired by a friend that I met the day before (thank you!), I decided to try tying my accent scarf around the bun part of the wrap.  Here is the result!

I love braiding with scarves of different widths – it creates such a neat effect!

Hope you all are looking forward to a lovely weekend.  I sure am, and I am also super excited for the “Lady Wrap Star” that I will be posting on Saturday night!
