Sensational Sashes & Our Brand New 31 Day Challenge!

banner4

Hi, ladies! It’s time for another Wrapunzel Challenge wrap-up post and we’re SO excited to share these amazing creations with you! We’re also pleased to be announcing a VERY special 31-day Wrapunzel Challenge, so be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post, after you’ve perused this week’s gallery. It’s one that wrappers can participate in during any month of the year!!!

Our most recent theme was wrapping with sashes and it’s been incredible to see all of these diverse looks on social media and elsewhere. Thank you all SO much for your participation!!!

What is a sash exactly?  Well, they’re what we call scarves that don’t cover your head completely. They might be too narrow or perhaps are a scarf folded lengthwise (to be worn as an accessory over another scarf). Either way, there is a seemingly endless amount of ways to wear them and if you’re looking for inspiration for how to wear your sashes as a head scarf, this post is not to be missed!

Well, if you’ve made it this far, you surely must be wondering what we have in store for our next challenge… After all, 31 days is a long time! We’ll be back in June with our regular bi-weekly challenges, but in the mean time, we’re gearing up to have a month of fun! Inspired by two members from our Facebook fangroup (Thanks Willow and Justine!!!), we’ve decided to make an EPIC challenge for the entire month of May.

It’s simple, really! To participate, each day a wrapper wears a totally different style wrap than the day before, with the challenge lending itself to experimentation and fun! Tichel newbies can enjoy the practice and learn fundamental techniques, while more experienced wrappers might discover a new favorite style or step out of their comfort zone a little. You can participate as little or as much as you’d like!

For day one (today- May 1st), we’ve decided to start with a war,-up day! Easy peasey, right? Some of these styles can be quite challenging, but remember- it’s all about having fun!

As with all of our Wrapunzel Challenges, you can share your photos on social media and use the hashtag #wrapunzel31daychallenge. We will not be compiling a collage at the end of the month, but are truly looking forward to following along and seeing what you all create!!!

Raspberry Chocolate Creme!

I never would have thought to put these colors together… I brought home these two pashminas to try out from our new summer collection, and I loved them both so much that I couldn’t decide which one to wear!  My husband said, “Why not both?”  I’m glad I listened to him!

(The two pashminas will be called “summer purple” and “Andrea’s Brown” – I paired it with the creme ruffled waves sash and a fabric pin!)

After the tichel was decided the outfit came easily:

Fancy Wraps!

Here are two fancier wraps that I’ve been experimenting with, both with the same pin!  The first is using a sari scarf and a very thin Israeli tichel underneath!

The second was using a green silky scarf and some black, sparkly sashes that I simply love!  It was a new discovery to see how the pin secured everything together!

Black Gets Colourful!

I must say, that as much as I love wearing lots of colour, I do enjoy my basic blacks!  The ease and elegance of it is simply unmatched.  That being said, I wanted to wear black today and be colourful as well!  Here’s is a post about how I went about being colourful and wearing black too!

First, a beautiful jewel multi-toned scarf with a sparkly black accent sash:

Paired with the right accessories:

And a lovely outfit contrasted with a black top and belt:

I enjoyed what I wore today very much.  The colour was joyful, the silhouette was feminine yet comfortable, and the black was pulled together.  Shana tova!

Now tell us, what are some new combinations/experiments you have tried lately, and how did it go?

The Sashy Accent

It always amazes me how a good sash accessory can completely change the look of a wrap.  Here I am going to show you a simple, purple scarf, wrapped in the exact same way, but when paired with two different sashes, the look is completely changed!  See for yourself!

With a tye-dye, colourful, thin, silk scarf:

And with a ruffled sash (honestly I can’t see how this sash would be worn *not* on one’s head!):

The Israeli Scarf Accent

If you’ve been following these posts, you have likely seen that I have a deep appreciation for Israeli tichels.  This name is referring to the solid-coloured, thin cotton scarves that have lines of silver thread running through them.  On the streets of Jerusalem, you can often find them in various small shops for under 10 shekels.  I have used them as full hair coverings, scrunched up as volumizers, but mostly folded up as sashes.  I find they add a perfect splash of contrast and sparkle to most other wraps.  Here it is in black, used as a sash accent!  (Click on photos to see in detail.)
