The Wrapunzel Foundation

Do you know that Wrapunzel.com has a non-profit sister organization? The Wrapunzel Foundation!

The Wrapunzel Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization spreading joy and strength through the art of creative headwrapping. We help women rise above medical adversity by finding their inner beauty!

Now for a little Wrapunzel history… From humble beginnings as a blog in 2012, Wrapunzel.com quickly grew into a bustling online community of followers so large and energetic that it became a major social movement. Women from all over the world were wrapping their heads in honor of dozens of different religious traditions, cultural practices, fashion statements, or in celebration of strength in the face of illness. Their enthusiasm and support for each other drew them together despite many differences in background, and Wrapunzel continued to grow – from hundreds of followers to thousands, to tens of thousands. With this growth, a need arose for a central place to find the best scarves and supplies for headwrapping – and a store, wrapunzel.com, was born in 2013.

Since then, Wrapunzel has blossomed even more. Our dream has always been to spread the joy of beautiful headwrapping to every woman who needs it. As we’ve grown, we’ve met a tremendous number of women fighting cancer and other difficult medical circumstances. A store was no longer enough. A blog was not enough. We needed something BIG.  And so the Wrapunzel Foundation was founded in 2015 – in order to help women in need in the United States.

Since its inception, the Wrapunzel Foundation has sent out approximately 600 Free Care Kits, each one containing everything a recipient would require to get started with the art of creative headwrapping, and feeling their beautiful best! It’s been our greatest pleasure to be a part of so many warriors’ wrapping journeys.

In addition, Wrapunzel.com has collected close to $40,000.00 in donations made during the ordering process, as well as funding for approximately 375 Care Kits. Our Sweet Wrapunzelistas’ financial support of the Wrapunzel Foundation has truly made us soar!

We’ve also donated over 600 scarves (pink!) to the Boston Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Komen Foundation envisions a world without breast cancer, and aims to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in their communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. In 2025 and 2026, the Wrapunzel Foundation provided scarves to Komen’s participants in their Boston 3 Day and More Than Pink Walks.

Here are some testimonials from those who have benefitted from the Wrapunzel Foundation! We are keeping their names anonymous for obvious reasons. We wish them all a speedy and complete healing!

“I wish there had been something like Wrapunzel Foundation when I was going through breast cancer treatment. It was hard to feel beautiful with all the loss I had experienced–loss of my breasts, my hair, and much of my femininity. Wrapping makes me feel beautiful. Thank you for all you do!”

“I so wish an organization like Wrapunzel Foundation was around when I was going through
treatment for breast cancer. What you are doing is AMAZING!” I can tell you, as a cancer patient, nothing is quite as emotionally draining as sitting in the waiting room of the cancer center. Any sort of distraction would be a welcome change from the thoughts running through our heads. I wish someone would have come in to help boost my spirits a bit. Yes, we did have people who volunteered to come chat with us, but telling my cancer story over and over just made me sad. A headwrap is a great equalizer. A
beautiful wrap makes people happy, no matter what the diagnosis.

You got me through chemo with just your video tutorials. I know you’ll be a godsend to thousands of women with what you can do now.

“Losing my hair from chemo was one of the most difficult side effects to face as a young woman with breast cancer. I didn’t love the look or feel of wearing a wig, but for the times when I wanted to leave the house and feel confident, wrapping my head in a scarf helped me feel like I could still blend in, with a bit of added style. I’m so grateful to Andrea for teaching me some tricks of the trade for wearing my scarves in different styles, and I’m thrilled that other women will be able to receive that same gift through this foundation.”

I’m so incredibly impressed and moved by the existence of the Wrapunzel Foundation, by the enthusiasm and the generosity of spirit, by the empathy. To make religious women feel that they are wearing a crown, to feel beautiful and themselves is an amazing thing, but to do it for women of cancer, women who are ill and women who can’t afford to cover but need to or want to, in unbelievably special. It is an honour to donate. Andrea, you and your team are so inspiring. ❤ With mazal, this is an amazing, amazing thing.
