  1. lets us not rob ourselves and others with words that curse but enrich the world around us with blessings.a client of mine gave me this poem
MAY YOU RECOGNISE IN YOUR LIFE THE PRESENCE,POWER AND LIGHT OF YOUR SOUL.MAY YOU REALISE THAT YOU ARE NEVER ALONE THAT YOUR SOUL IN ITS BRIGHTNESS AND BELONGING CONNECTS YOU INTIMATELY WITH THE RHYTHMOF THE UNIVERSE.MAY YOU HAVE RESPECT FOR YOUR INDIVIDUALITY AND DIFFERENCE.MAY YOU REALISE THAT THE SHAPE OF YOUR SOUL IS UNIQUE,THAT YOU HAVE A SPECIAL DESTINY HERE THAT BEHIND THE FACDE OF YOUR LIFE THERE IS SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL,GOOD AND ETERNAL HAPPENING.MAY YOU LEARN TO SEE YOURSELF WITH THE SAME DELIGHT,PRIDE AND EXPECTATION WITH WHICH G-D SEES YOU IN EVERY MOMENT.

  2. Thank you so much. I hope you know what an inspiration you are. Today is going to be my first day leaving the house with my hair covered. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this. You’re a star. Thank you so much. Big hugs xx

    Dear Andrea,

thank you very much for your inside. I am following your blog regularly and love it – it is very inspirational for me. As I am not on facebook I cannot join the community…I do have a question concerning the practical side, I guess it is one thing not to gossip or talk bad in front of your friends – but what troubles me, what about with your husband – can you still express your feelings and thoughts transperantly without talking some negative things through? For example there might be work issues which involve other people – even in that situation, shall we keep silent? Or just not bringing the names up? Or are all negative issues only between G-D and yourself?

maybe you can help – would love to hear your opinion.

    thanks.

Kerstin, this is a really great question. According to the laws of Lashon Hara (bad speech) in Judaism, you may not gossip or talk about others to your husband as well. If you think about it practically, it is very easy for a wife to hear the trouble her husband is having, misconstrue it as something worse than it is, and somehow make matters worse because of her position as wife. As just one example, she might give him advice to act strongly in response to whatever bad thing happened, whereas in reality, if he had just let it blow over or work itself out naturally, less people would have ended up being hurt by the episode.

I don’t think this means you should never discuss bad days with your spouse. I think it’s important that you share all the aspects of your lives- good and bad. And plus, having a bad day can really affect your mood and actions at home too. But I would put it in more general terms. Maybe describe the scenario, but definitely no names or identifying details. You can definitely find ways to be discreet while still sharing and processing your day.

      1. EXACTLY!! There is a difference between sharing in order to slander someone, and sharing in order to process and figure out how to be a better person from it. All this is coming up when we do a series on Lashon Hara! Thanks for the amazing response!

  4. Andrea……Thank you for reminding us of the individual beauty of every woman and how blessed we are to be able to hold one another up with our thoughts, words, and actions. I have so much gratitude for you and the other women who keep this unique community of diverse women focused on love and supporting one another by bringing us together in the humble act of wrapping our hair to keep it and ourselves special…..each woman is special.

Thank you for having the courage to make this video in a loving and personal way. Your advice and plea to guard our words reminded me of the opportunity they provide every day to lift someone up and to keep those words that may not—-silenced. Where are thoughts go, our words tend to follow…..so keeping our thoughts lifted to the Creator can help us at the origin of the words.

…..and it is a day by day journey. In love, Susan

I really enjoyed this, thank you! Have you read ‘Words that hurt, words that heal’ by Telushkin (sp?) It’s a great intro into some of the topics you discussed here. I highly recommend it! Let’s keep the good vibes flowing 😊
